Thank you for visiting SCUBA EMPORIUM’S web site. I am Patrick Hammer, the founder of SCUBA EMPORIUM. I want to thank you for your support, as well as tell you a little about us. We opened my first dive shop in Evergreen Park, Illinois in 1974. This dive shop soon grew to be one of the best in the Midwest and we had to move to a larger facility in Hickory Hills. We then opened up a second location in Alsip, a few miles outside of the city of Chicago. We thought this would be a good move, since it was just a few miles from the I-294 Illinois tollway and five miles from the Chicago City limits. That turned out to be true. Soon we become the only PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center in the Midwest, and we were selling more dive gear than anyone else. My goal has always been to deliver to our customers the best in training and equipment possible. We always worked to give you the best quality courses, whether it was a children’s program, an entry level PADI Open Water Diver Course, a PADI Dive Master course or Instructor training. Today we are honored to have earned the only PADI FIVE Star CDC Dive Center in the Midwest. This is a tough rating to earn, and trust me we are very proud of it.
Worldwide PADI has 70 Platinum Course directors. Three work at SCUBA EMPORIUM. That is impressive. For the Course Directors, this is a hard rating to earn. No one can match our staff when it comes to delivering quality diver education. The sales staff, the instructors, Sherry Hammer (my wife) and me, we all love our jobs and we love teaching SCUBA. It is such a thrill to see new divers come up after their first dive with a smile all of Chicago can see.

For all your equipment needs, we offer some of the best products in the dive industry. Our Dive center sells Major Lines such as AquaLung, Atomic Aquatics, DeepSee, DUI, Scubapro, Sherwood, Mares, DUI, Sea and Sea and SeaLlife cameras. We also have one of the best repair facilities in the Midwest. We can service all these lines we sell as well most others. Our Professional trained repair techs can service all regulators, vests and BCD's as well as we suits and dry suits. Our techs also do all tank and valve work in- house. We are one of a few dive shops that have their own tank hydrostatic testing (hydro) machine. This allows us to complete all repairs in-house for better control and faster turnaround.
